Penn Hills Memorial Day Parade will be held on the holiday, May 26.

The parade will begin at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church on Frankstown Road at 11:30 a.m. and proceed to the reviewing stand in front of the municipal building, where a memorial ceremony will begin at 11:45 a.m. The parade will include antique cars, fire trucks, marching units and floats.

In addition to the parade, the 13th annual 5K race will begin at 8:30 a.m. on May 26 at Linton Middle School.

Advance registration, $12, guarantees a T-shirt. Event-day registration will be $15. The top three male and female finishers will receive awards.

Race applications are available in the parks and recreation office at the municipal building on Frankstown Road. Walkers are welcome.

Donate sporting equipment

Penn Hills Girl Scout Cadette Troop 962 is collecting used sporting equipment for less fortunate children in the Pittsburgh area.

The collection is part of troop members' work toward the Silver Award.

Boxes for donations of used sporting equipment are at the concession stands in Penn Hills Park, Friendship Park and Milltown Park until May 22.
