Church briefs for May 15, 2008
First Baptist Church of Penn Hills, 7459 Chadwick St., will have a celebration of the 25th wedding anniversary of the Rev. James Hunt and Dr. Sheila Johnson-Hunt in collaboration with TWOgether Pittsburgh on May 24 at 5 p.m.
The couple will renew their wedding vows and pray for God's blessing on every married couple present.
Following a concert, a special reception in honor of all married couples present will be held and couples will receive a TWOgether Pittsburgh gift bag.
The event is the culmination of the teen male/female relationship series "Godly Relationships and Godly Marriage: Deal or No Deal." The seven-week series is being held in churches in Pittsburgh and surrounding areas.
The event is free and open to the public.
Women's day
A women's day will be held at First Baptist Church of Penn Hills at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday.
The guest preacher will be Minister Joyce Arvie of Law Street Baptist Church, New Orleans.
LaVerne Corbin will serve as the guest soloist.
The event is open to the public.
Flea market, craft sale
St. Gerard Majella Church, 121 Dawn Drive, will hold a flea market and craft sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday.
A few tables are still available for rent. The cost is $15 per table.
Vendors can reserve tables by calling Rose Graziano at 412-795-0085 as soon as possible.
Last week's edition incorrectly indicated the event was on May 10. The Progress regrets the error.
