Church briefs for the week of March 19, 2008

Hebron United Presbyterian Church, 10460 Frankstown Road, will hold a Good Friday Tenebrae service in the sanctuary at 7:30 p.m. this Friday.

Easter services will be held at 8:15, 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. this Sunday.

Community services

First Baptist Church of Penn Hills, 7450 Chadwick St., will hold a community Good Friday service from noon to 3 p.m. this Friday.

Ministers from various churches will speak on the theme, "Seven Last Words of Christ on the Cross." Special musical selections will be presented.

The Penn Hills community Easter sunrise service will be held at Trinity Tower United Methodist Church, 6729 Saltsburg Road, at 6:30 a.m. this Sunday.

The Rev. Tim William of Hebron United Presbyterian Church will lead the Easter service.

Offerings at both services will be designated for clergy scholarships that go to members of Penn Hills congregations who pursue education for a career in Christian ministry.

Healing service

Apostles Lutheran Church, 447 Hamil Road, will hold its annual ecumenical healing service at 7 p.m. today (Wednesday).

The service will be preceded by a covered-dish dinner at 6 p.m. All are welcome. For more information, call Sandi McMaster at 412-793-7846.

St. Gerard fish fry

St. Gerard Majella Church, 121 Dawn Drive, will hold a Good Friday fish fry from 3 to 7 p.m. this Friday.

All dinners include a choice of two sides, plus drink, dessert, bun or roll and butter.

On the menu are baked and fried fish dinners, breaded shrimp, fish sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, pizza, clam chowder and pasta fagiola.

All Saints fish fry

All Saints Episcopal Church, 1620 Randolph Lane, will hold a fish fry from 4:30 to 7 p.m. this Friday.

The menu includes baked or fried fish, shrimp, pizza, coleslaw, fries, macaroni and cheese, desserts and beverages. Sit-down and takeout service will be available.
