Frank Delo
Bus mechanic for school district

Frank Delo, 63, of Penn Hills, died May 31, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice (Young) Delo.

Mr. Delo was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a longtime school bus mechanic for Penn Hills School District.

He is survived by his children, Philip Delo and his wife, Heather, Steven Delo and Kristina Delo, all of Jeannette; brother, Robert Delo and his wife, Rita; and two grandsons.

Friends were received at Jobe Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc. Monroeville/Plum Chapel, where a service was followed by presentation of military honors.

Elaine Bishop
Grandmother of two

Elaine M. Bishop, 90, of Penn Hills, died May 25, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bishop.

Surviving are her daughter, Ellen Bishop Petrosky and her husband, Anthony; sister, Betty Halpin; and two grandsons.

A memorial service was held at Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd. Roth Chapel, Penn Hills.

Theodore Phillips
Korean War veteran

Theodore N. "Ted" Phillips, 72, of Monroeville, died May 24, 2008.

Mr. Phillips was a graduate of what was then California (Pa.) State Teachers College and received his master's degree in education from Duquesne University.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired social studies teacher for Wilkinsburg School District.

Mr. Phillips was a member of St. Nicholas Eastern Orthodox Church and its male chorus and mixed choir. He also was a member of SNF Lodge 7. He will be remembered for his love of people, beautiful smile and devotion to his family and friends.

Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Dorothy (Savage) Phillips.

Surviving are his wife, Patricia "Pat" Bilinsky Phillips; sisters, Angie Kuchinick, Florence Godich and Catherine "Kata" Kukic and her husband, Pete; sister-in-law, Martha Craig; and nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding.

Grace Amato
Pittsburgh native

Grace M. Amato, 91, of Penn Hills, died May 30, 2008, at Forbes Hospice in Oakland.

She was born in Pittsburgh to the late Antonio and Carmella LePre Della Sala.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Amato.

She is survived by three sons, Robert Amato and his wife, Charlene, Frank Amato and his wife, Daria, and Ken Amato and his wife, Carol; and six grandchildren.

Friends were received at William F. Gross Funeral Home Ltd. in Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church, Penn Hills. Interment was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Patricia Kaszycki

Grandmother of nine

Patricia A. "Pat" Kaszycki, 76, of Penn Hills, died May 29, 2008, at UPMC St. Margaret.

Born March 17, 1932, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (Wesolek) Burzynski.

She was a member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church.

She is survived by her sons, Richard Kaszycki and his wife, Debbie, of Atlanta, Randal Kaszycki of Verona and Terence Kaszycki of Oakmont; daughter, Carla Novotny and her husband, William, of Verona; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home and Cremation and Alternative Services Inc. in Oakmont. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church with the Rev. Martin Barkin officiating.

John Long
Army veteran

John M. Long, 57, of Penn Hills, died May 31, 2008.

Born Nov. 11, 1950, he was the son of the late John and Florence Long.

Mr. Long served in the Army during the Vietnam era. He loved to fish and had a passion for antique cars.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne Sinn.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Lapinski of Maryland and Andrew Lapinski of Shaler; brother-in-law, Robert Sinn; former wife, Regina Long; a grandson; a niece; and a nephew.

Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home and Cremation and Alternative Services Inc. in Oakmont, where a blessing service was held with the Rev. Frank Kurimsky officiating. Interment was at St. Casmir Cemetery.

Henrietta Alcorn
Ohio native

Henrietta Alcorn, 85, of Penn Hills, died June 1, 2008.

She was born in Jefferson County, Ohio, to the late Charles and Mary (Machin) Bolte.

Mrs. Alcorn was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane Szitas.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Alcorn Sr.; son, Lloyd Alcorn Jr.; and a grandson.

Friends were received at William F. Gross Funeral Home Ltd. in Penn Hills, where a service was held. Interment was at Plum Creek Cemetery.

Susan Barto
Mother of two

Susan A. Barto, 96, of Wall, died May 26, 2008.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Suzanna Adams; husband, John Barto; brothers, John Adams, Mike Adams, Steve Adams and George Adams; and sister, Mary Doperak.

Surviving are her daughters, Elaine Secko and Elizabeth "Elsie" Kozak; two granddaughters; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at Alfieri Funeral Home, Inc., Wilmerding, where a service was held, followed by Divine Liturgy in Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilmerding. Burial was at New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.
