Dr. Boleslaw Galonski
Local dentist for 20 years

Dr. Boleslaw Carl Galonski, 89, of Penn Hills, died May 18, 2008.

Born April 27, 1919, in Mt. Carmel, he was the son of Pauline and Nicholas Galonski.

After serving in the Army from 1942-53, he practiced dentistry in Penn Hills for more than 20 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Galonski; daughter, Noreen Galonski; and siblings, Tony, Frank, John, Josephine and Stella.

Surviving are his son, Blaine Galonski and his wife, Mary Anne; sister, Cecelia; friend, Veronica Strathmann; and two grandchildren.

Private arrangements were handled by Rapp Funeral Home, Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. James Church, Wilkinsburg.

William Donatelli
Grandfather of seven

William "Bud" Donatelli, 84, of Penn Hills, died May 21, 2008.

He is survived by his wife, Frances (Brennan) Donatelli; son, Bill Donatelli and his wife, Nancy; daughters, Denise Letzelter and her husband, Paul, and Sharon Marullo and her husband, Richard; sister, Ruth Mellars; brothers, Jerry and Timmy Donatelli; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd. Roth Chapel, Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Susanna Church, Penn Hills.

Evelyn Kozer

Grandmother of five

Evelyn S. Kozer, 79, of Penn Hills, died May 22, 2008.

Mrs. Kozer is survived by husband, John Kozer; daughters, Lynne Scrofano and her husband, Don, and Kim Haney and her husband, Bill; son, John "Craig" Kozer; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Friends were received at Soxman Funeral Homes Ltd. Roth Chapel, Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Susanna Church, Penn Hills.

Dora Matarazzo
St. Regis member

Dora E. Yocca Matarazzo, 90, of Trafford, died May 21, 2008.

Mrs. Matarazzo was a member of St. Regis Church and its Altar Rosary Society for more than 50 years.

She served two terms as president of Trafford Mothers Football Club and was a member of Trafford Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pasquale and Marie Ciotti Yocca; husband, Anthony Matarazzo; sisters, Beatrice Frasca and Ida Gorgone; and brothers, John Yocca, Bill Yocca and Emil Yocca.

Surviving are her sons, Jim Matarazzo and his wife, Claudia, and Ralph Matarazzo and his wife, Maureen; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends were received at Alfieri Funeral Home Inc., Wilmerding. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in St. Regis Church, Trafford. Entombment was in New St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles.

Vincent Russo
Married 47 years

Vincent A. Russo Sr., 82, of Springdale, formerly of Oakmont, died May 19, 2008, at UPMC St. Margaret.

Born Jan. 28, 1926, he was the son of the late August and Angeline Molino Russo.

Mr. Russo was retired from the U.S. government. A Catholic, he enjoyed reading and computers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Patsy Russo; and son-in-law, Edward Sebastian.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mary (Downing) Russo; daughter, Angela Sebastian of Penn Hills; son, Vincent Sebastian Jr. and his wife, Regina, of Sarver; and five grandchildren.

Friends were received at Burket-Truby Funeral Home Cremation & Alternative Services Inc. in Oakmont. A blessing service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today (Thursday) at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church in Oakmont with the Rev. Frank Kurminsky officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Penn Hills.

Edward Jameson
Former resident

Edward J. Jameson, 63, of Plum, formerly of Penn Hills, died May 21, 2008.

Mr. Jameson worked as a nursing aide at St. Francis Hospital and at Heppenstalls for several years.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Jameson.

Surviving are his sister, Nicoletta Lattimore; niece, Kimberly Lattimore; nephew, Anthony Lattimore; and friend, Shirley Barlich, and her daughter, Lisa Leadbitter.

Friends were received at Jobe Funeral Home Inc., Turtle Creek, where a blessing service was held. Interment followed at Churchill Cemetery.

Barbara Bannon
Had two sisters

Barbara J. Bannon, 55, of Penn Hills, died May 24, 2008, at UPMC St. Margaret.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas "Buzz" Bannon.

She is survived by her mother, Betty (Haas) Bannon; brother, Bob Bannon; sisters, Elizabeth "Betsy" Bannon and Bonnie Robinson and her husband, Dan; a nephew; and three nieces.

Friends were received at William F. Gross Funeral Home Ltd. in Penn Hills. Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Penn Hills.

Edythe Tomashewski
Pittsburgh native

Edythe Tomashewski, 88, of Penn Hills, died May 24, 2008, at West Penn Hospital-Forbes Regional Campus in Monroeville.

Born in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mamie (Randali) Venturella.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Tomashewski.

She is survived by a son, Alex Tomashewski and his wife, Susan; daughters, Marion Deni and her husband, James, and Diane Moran; and two grandchildren.

Friends were received at William F. Gross Funeral Home Ltd. in Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Bartholomew Church in Penn Hills. Inter-ment was in Calvary Cemetery.

Ernest Entz
Had two brothers

Ernest E. Entz, 66, of Penn Hills, died May 25, 2008, in West Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Elizabeth Boyle and Frederick Entz.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James Entz.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Entz; and brother, Frederick Entz Jr.

Friends were received at William F. Gross Funeral Home Ltd. in Penn Hills, where a service will be held at 11:30 a.m. today (Thursday), followed by celebration of Mass of Christian Burial at noon at St. Susanna Church in Penn Hills. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Sophia Nakles
Jeannette native

Sophia A. (Abraham) Nakles, 92, of Penn Hills, died May 23, 2008, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.

Born on Aug. 13, 1915, in Jeannette, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary David Abraham.

Mrs. Nakles was a homemaker and member of St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Nakles.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou Yanker; sons, Michael Nakles and Richard Nakles; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Friends were received at Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home Inc. in Penn Hills, where a service was held with the Rev. John Abdalah officiating. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Penn Hills.

Anna Dugan
Retired crossing guard

Anna P. Dugan, 98, of Penn Hills, formerly of East Pitts-burgh, died May 25, 2008, at Forbes Hospice.

Born Oct. 4, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Julia Chelkis and William Markum.

She was a retired crossing guard for East Pittsburgh.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Dugan.

She is survived by two daughters, Lois McIntyre and Ann Bachner; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Friends were received at Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home Inc. in Penn Hills. A service was held at St. Gerard Majella Church in Penn Hills with the Rev. Martin Barkin officiating. Burial was in Braddock Catholic Cemetery.
