Shafer-Berman

Amanda Shafer and Matthew Berman, both of Washington, D.C., were united in marriage on Oct. 7, 2007.

The bride is the daughter of Lois and Jay Hollinsworth of Monroeville. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Johns Hopkins University and her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.

The groom is the son of Linda and Sanford Berman of Potomac, Md. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Washington University and his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center.

Matthew is an associate at Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen and Hamilton LLP in Washington, D.C.

Rabbi Joshua Burrows officiated the ceremony.

Maid of honor was Samantha Shafer, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Deanna Singh, Besma Al Humadi and Whitney Moore, friends of the bride.

Best man was Ryan Berman, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Jamie Chvotkin, cousin of the groom; Bruce Vanderver, Alex Reid, Jeff Pagliano and Jim Gallagher, friends of the groom.

The reception was held at the Oatlands Plantation, Leesburg, Va.

The couple honeymooned in Greece and Italy.
